PREM JOTI STUDENTS VISIT THE ALICE PROJECT

The students of Prem Joti School visited the Alice Project. Many of the students in this school have special needs. Some are deaf and cannot speak; some have physical handicaps; others have mental handicaps.

Mr. Awaneesh Mishra, principal of the Alice Project, welcomed the students with these words: “We are welcoming these students and their teachers from the bottom of our hearts and we pray that these students progress day and night.”

He explained the program at the Universal Education School. Students from this school greeted them with a welcoming song. This was followed by traditional dances.

Then the principal of the Prem Jyoti School addressed the audience. She said that the students who are lame, deaf and dumb, mentally disturbed can get an education at her school. If the students have mental disturbances they receive psychological treatment. When they improve and get self confidence they join the class to follow the Government curriculum.

Next the students performed dances. Everyone thought it was so wonderful that these students could perform the Bart Nat Yam dance which is so difficult. The students must be much disciplined to do this. They were simply splendid!

Through their dances the students showed that where there is a will there is a way. When people follow their dreams then even the ocean gives way.

After the official welcome, two senior students of Alice Project - Nagendra and Raju - showed the school to the guests. First we took them into the Tara temple and explained that this is the temple of the Tara goddess. Here anyone can come and worship. There will be a big room built on the second floor. People of all religions can come and pray as they wish.

After this we took them to the yoga room, the english room, the geography, and the

history rooms. We explained that here we here we are doing everything in a practical

way.

The students were so friendly with us that we did not feel they were different from us and we felt that we are one family.

Then we ate a lunch of vegetables, dahl, rice, salad, samosas and sweets.

After lunch we played volleyball, basketball and cricket. The guests were free like birds to fly, sing, and dance.

Finally these students went to visit Vajra Vidya Mandir.

After coming back, the teachers, students and the principal gave thanks to Mr. Valentino for giving them the chance to visit the school. They said that they were taking a soft and deep imprints in our hearts of your school which we will never forget. After this we shook hands and we joyfully said good-

bye.
