Volunteers
Here
is a snapshot of a few volunteers who have worked at Alice project
 |
Sarah, from Canada and Hydrabad, has been
teaching English at the school for four years |
| ........................................................................................... |
| Guiseppe and Christina have been twice
to the school to teach us many things, but all through games, which
are designed to indirectly teach the students about interconnectedness
and dependence on one another. |
 |
| ........................................................................................... |
 |
Rachel, another regular returner, has been returning to Alice every
winter to teach English and Footprints (Environmental studies).
For the past 3 years she has been helping to co-ordinate the volunteers.

Bryan Tucker has been coming to the school for 6 years, to teach
both teachers and students vipassana meditation. For the teachers
he organises retreats. For the students he works with the older
children, guiding them with trust and supporting Valentinno's interest
in how our mind works.

Maurice, from Netherlands, came in 2002 and taught English to Class
5 and computers to the keen staff and students. (The only photo
I could find was at Awanishes wedding - Mau being gently guided
by Awanishes father!)
|
| ........................................................................................... |
| JJ came in 2002 and revolutionised our
art. He showed us how to make mandala's out of nature, and how to
paint rose buds and draw cartoons. He ran a workshop for the staff,
which they still talk about. |
 |
| ........................................................................................... |
| Idylia stayed at the school for some months
months in 2003, running workshops with the students working with the
women. |
 |
| ........................................................................................... |
| Pat came in 2002 and taught vipanssana
meditation to the students and western philosophy to the teachers.
|
 |
|
...........................................................................................
|
| Lydia from Metifield, England, came in
2004 to teach the young students art - most famously masks and cress
heads. |
 |
| ........................................................................................... |
| Marli (from Italy) has come two years (2002/3) running
to teach at the Sarnath branch school. Through a generous collection
at her daughters wedding, she raised some funds for the school, with
which she brought some benches and tables, for the young students
to sit and work at. She watched them being made with a hawk eye! |
|
| ........................................................................................... |
 |
Lucca from Italy came in 2002 to light up the Italian pizza over
with fire! He taught the residential students how to make bread
and pizza. (Lucca reluctant to be photographed so here are his trainees).
|
| ........................................................................................... |
|
Lottie came in 2004 and spoke to Alice students about being a Sufi.
With her good experience of teaching English as a foreign language
she also ran a teaching workshop for the teachers.
